2024 Vermont Pride Readathon!

June is Pride Month and The Yankee Bookshop is teaming up with fourteen other Vermont Indie Bookstores for the Second Annual Pride Readathon! Join in the fun and help us raise money for Camp Outright, Vermont's only queer youth service organization and statewide advocacy center.

How does this readathon work? Anyone from the general public can join the Readathon by going to the Outright Vermont Fundraising page and signing up to participate. Participants will pledge to read X number of books by LGBTQ+ authors in the month of June and they will share that with their friends and family who can support their reading goals with a tax deductible, online donation (which will be made up front). Not a big reader yourself? You can sponsor other readers, or make a general donation. It's really a very simple process, with multiple ways to contribute and make a difference.

What should you read? Anything that celebrates LGBTQ+ author voices. Any genre is fair game: fiction or nonfiction, mystery or romance, graphic novels, kid lit - anything you're interested in is great!

Why books for pride? Because representation matters. And everyone deserves to see themselves in the books and stories that they love.

Why Camp Outright? Because all kids deserve to have access to safe and inclusive spaces that support their self-discovery and encourage connection, and Camp Outright does just that.

Will my contribution make a difference? Absolutely! Your support ensures no camper is turned away because of financial need. In addition, a generous donor has offered to match donations, dollar for dollar! Camp Outright is an important recipient because all kids deserve to have access to safe and inclusive spaces that support their self-discovery and inspire connection.

Ready to participate? Head over to Outright Vermont's Readathon site.
